The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Islam Massad, met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Amman, Mr. Kamfut Omar, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Yarmouk and various Nigerian higher education institutions in the scientific, academic, and cultural fields.
During the meeting, Massad stressed Yarmouk's keenness to build bridges of scientific and academic cooperation with universities and educational institutions in various countries of the world, which provides an opportunity for Yarmouk’s faculty members and students to master new sciences, knowledge, and experiences, thus reflecting positively on the progress of the University’s educational process. He then pointed out that Yarmouk takes great care of its international students who represent 9% of its 42,000 male and female students, stressing the University’s constant keenness to provide its students with various skills and knowledge that enable them to engage in the labor market efficiently and competently. Massad also affirmed Yarmouk's readiness to receive more Nigerian students to continue their studies in the various programs offered by the University, highlighting the distinguished academic level and the extent of commitment of Nigerian students studying at Yarmouk.
In return, Mr. Omar praised the distinguished scientific reputation that Yarmouk University enjoys at the regional level, stressing the keenness of the Nigerian embassy in Amman to enhance cooperation with Yarmouk University by sending Nigerian students to study in the various disciplines offered by Yarmouk University, such as Sharia, Islamic studies, and the Arabic language.
The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the University, Dr. Muwaffaq Alomoush, Dr. Samer Samarah, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Thiyabat, the Deputy Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Mustafa Al-Naddaf, and a number of University officials. However, during his visit to the university, the Chargé d'Affairs of the Nigerian Embassy in Amman, Mr. Kamfut Omar, met with the 19 Nigerian students studying in Yarmouk to discuss certain issues of their concern.
