In the presence of the Vice-Chairman of Yarmouk University’s Board of Trustees, the President of Yarmouk University, Professor Islam Massad, met the Irish Ambassador to Amman, Marianne Bolger, and the accompanying delegation to discuss possible ways of future cooperation between Yarmouk and the Irish universities and educational institutes. Massad stressed the University's keenness to strengthen its academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation with various educational institutions and institutes around the world in a way that contributes to the exchange of experiences and knowledge and reflects positively on the development of the educational and research process at the University. He then expressed the University’s interest in cooperating with the Irish embassy by establishing certain joint academic programs between Yarmouk and Irish universities and reactivating the joint Master program in health administration offered once by Yarmouk in partnership with the Irish University of Dublin.

In return, Bolger expressed the embassy's keenness to cooperate with various Jordanian educational institutions, pointing to Yarmouk University’s distinguished scientific reputation and academic diversity. She mentioned that Yarmouk has many scientific units and centers and has the ability and zeal to cooperate with a number of Irish educational and research institutions in conducting scientific projects on several issues like women empowerment and refugee issues. She then confirmed the embassy's readiness to provide all possible forms of support to establish effective and solid relationships between the two sides.

During the meeting, Al-Shayyab, the Vice-Chairman of Yarmouk University’s Board of Trustees, stressed the possibility of holding more meetings and visits between representatives of the Irish embassy, universities, and institutes, to crystallize a fruitful cooperation that can contribute to designing qualitative programs that simulate global scientific changes and meet the aspirations of Jordanian youth. He also pointed to the University's keenness to cooperate with its Irish equals with regard to training students of Yarmouk’s Faculty of Medicine in Irish hospitals through certain intensive training programs.
